Qualeasha Wood, ‘Malware’, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery
Glitch aesthetics and digital overload collide in the Philadelphia-based artist’s second solo show with the gallery. Through jacquard tapestries, tufted textiles and AI-driven video, Wood dissects consumer culture, the hyper-visibility of the Black femme body and the internet’s obsession with commodifying identity. While her videos fragment the body into pixels, tufted scenes from her grandmother’s home offer a nostalgic counterpoint. Throughout the show, Wood asks: When the system sees you as both error and equation, how do you rewrite the code? – Izzy Bilkus
