Judith Godwin

From 26 January–9 March, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery will present Expressions of Life, the first exhibition of Judith Godwin in Europe. The American Abstract Expressionist is best remembered for her powerful work that strove for liberation from the conventions of a movement anchored in the languages of masculinity and heteronormativity. As well as exploring womanhood and her sexual identity, the artist’s passion for the environment is another consistent theme across her artworks – a preoccupation which finds new salience today.
