Celebrating its fifth iteration, the annual Galerie list of emerging artists shines a spotlight on what’s happening now in the ever-changing art world by identifying groundbreaking talents destined for greatness.

Thanks to their unique perspectives and incredible technical skill, this year’s group has already captured the attention of our panel of cultural luminaries: Alessia Antinori, Georgina Cohen, Billy Cotton, Silvia Karman Cubiñá, Elizabeth Dee, JiaJia Fei, Daniel S. Palmer, Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, and Hank Willis Thomas.

Through their nominations, we’ve selected these 15 up-and-coming creatives who are driving the art conversation forward.

“I see my works as primordial sceneries unknown to humans,” says Sophia Loeb, a Brazilian-born, London-based artist who graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art this year. “I want the unseen to be seen.”

Presented in a variety of scales, Loeb’s radiant, otherworldly paintings explore the interconnectedness of all universal systems and call for a harmonious relationship between man and nature.

Unique process: Focusing on one piece at a time, Loeb tries to “harness the power of each work and push deeply to understand its wants and needs.” She starts with an acrylic underpainting, then adds oil paint and pigment with a variety
of tools, such as palette knives, brushes, even her hands, often rotating the canvas.

On view: Following her breakout solo exhibition at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in London, Loeb is showing a series of new paintings at the gallery’s booth at Art Basel in Miami Beach.
