A powerful new voice, Nigerian-born artist Nengi Omuku has brought African batik-style renderings to the forefront of the British art market. With her balmy colour-palette and regal representations of black women, the 34-year-old was the proud recipient of the British Council CHOGM Art Award —presented by HM Queen Elizabeth II. With representation at London’s swanky Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, Omuku’s influence is sure to grow substantially in the years to come.
