Three important museum exhibitions opening this week at National Gallery of Art, Washington DC; American Folk Art Museum, NY; and The Phillips Collection, Washington DC, all include Philadelphia-based artist, Dindga McCannon.
McCannon's acrylic on canvas, Woman #1 (1975-1977), will be on view at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, as part of the exhibition The Interior Life: Recent Acquisitions. Opening on 17 March, the show comprises a selection of artworks that have been added to the National Gallery’s collection of modern and contemporary art over the last three years.
Also opening tomorrow is What That Quilt Knows About Me at the American Folk Art Museum, New York, which includes the artist's work, Mary Lou Williams (2017). McCannon's Charlie Parker and Some of the Amazing Musicians He Influenced (2010) will be on view from 18 March at the The Phillips Collection, Washington DC.
